PRODUCT CARE TIPS

1. Rug Care & Maintenance

Regular Cleaning

✔ Vacuum with a low-power setting and without a beater bar.
✔ Shake out small rugs occasionally to remove dust and debris.
✔ Rotate your rug every 6-12 months to ensure even wear.

Spot Cleaning (Avoid Color Bleeding!)

✔ DO NOT use harsh chemicals or strong detergents.
✔ Blot spills immediately with a dry, clean cloth—never rub!
✔ Use a damp cloth with cold water only to gently clean stains.
✔ For tougher stains, mix a few drops of mild, natural soap with cold water and test on a small, hidden area first.

Deep Cleaning

✔ We strongly recommend professional rug cleaning for deep stains.
✔ DO NOT soak the rug, as natural dyes may bleed.
✔ Avoid steam cleaning, as excessive heat can cause fading and shrinkage.

Storage Tips

✔ Roll (never fold) and store in a dry, cool place with good ventilation.
✔ Cover with a cotton sheet (never plastic) to allow airflow.
✔ Add cedar chips or lavender sachets to keep moths away.

2. Kilim Care Tips (Color-Safe Cleaning!)

✔ DO NOT wash kilims with water, as natural dyes may bleed.
✔ Shake and air out regularly to remove dust.
✔ Vacuum with a soft brush attachment—avoid excessive suction.
✔ If stained, use a dry cloth or lightly dab with a damp cloth & mild soap (cold water only).
✔ For serious stains, seek professional dry cleaning specialized in handmade textiles.
✔ When storing, roll your kilim and keep it in a dry, ventilated area.

3. Cushion Cover Care (Washing with Caution!)

✔ Hand wash only in cold water with mild, natural detergent.
✔ DO NOT let cushion covers soak in water, as natural dyes may run.
✔ Wash separately to prevent color transfer.
✔ Gently squeeze out excess water—do not wring.
✔ Air dry flat and in shade to prevent fading.
✔ Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, as it can cause colors to fade.

4. Protecting Your Naturally Dyed Textiles

✔ Use a rug pad under your rug to prevent slipping and reduce friction.
✔ Keep rugs and kilims away from direct sunlight to preserve their colors.
✔ If placing furniture on rugs, use furniture pads to avoid marks and pressure spots.
✔ If rugs, kilims, or cushions get wet, dry them immediately in a shaded, well-ventilated area to prevent dye bleeding.

By following these care tips, you can maintain the beauty and vibrancy of your naturally dyed handmade pieces while preventing color transfer and fading. If you have any concerns or specific questions, feel free to contact us at support@nomadicrug.com.
